Can Manchester United still win the premier league?

Manchester United chances of winning the Premier League are growing each day.  After securing their fifth straight premier league win against Burnley, the team has solidified their second position.

A few months ago, the talks of Manchester United could have not made sense to anyone. We were all gearing up towards the eventual coronation of Manchester City as league champions. The difference between the two giant clubs was widening each and every single day.  United had taken an early lead into the middle of the season, lost it all when draws started choking the team-up.

At that time, Manchester City had to capitalize on their two matches in hand in order to dislodge their neighbours from the pole position. Not enough, Manchester United was relegated from all other domestic cups as well as the prestigious Champions League.

Following the win against 17th placed Burnley however, it becomes literally difficult for the club to be taken lightly. In any case, Manchester United is warming up to take the premier league’s poll position before the season elapses. Unlike other clubs such as Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspurs who are literally out of any trophy bracket for this season, Manchester United has at least where they can bank on. At least two places and thus the premier league and the UEFA Europa Cup.

With a brace from Mason Greenwood and one goal from the on-form Edison Cavani at the theatre of dreams, United have managed to reduce the gap between them and Manchester City with only six matches to go. This means that if Manchester City will win the league, then such thoughts can only be postponed to a later date in the premier league calendar.

Manchester United’s trophy chances

With the league coming to an end after the next six rounds, the Manchester club is trying to end on a positive. To finish with at least a trophy in their cabinet. For the premier league, Manchester United have not won the piece of the silverware since the departure of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. Its, therefore, one of the top agendas of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to end the long trophy barrenness.  United had come near winning the trophy was it not for the take over that Manchester City made along the season when they had two matches at hand which handed them more advantage.

Away from the premier league glory, Manchester United is contemplating how they can win the UEFA Europa Cup League. The team recently cruised past Granada of Spain after a 4:0 aggregate win.

The team has therefore booked a semifinal duel with Italian giants AS Roma. If they manage to cruise past AS Roma, Manchester United will have a good time to thump their presence felt in European competitions by winning the Europa Cup.
