Manchester City signs Ferran Torres for Next 5 years

Manchester City has finalized the signing of Valencia winger Ferran Torres. Valued at 23 million euros, the 20-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract with the Citizens. He now joins the Citizens aiming to win a medal with the Manchester-based side. With only 12 months remaining on his contract, Manchester City has managed to beat other clubs for his signature. Other notable clubs that had entered the race to sign the player includes rivals Manchester United. Laliga Champions Real Madrid, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund were all after his signature.

His decision to join the Citizens had received a great influence from the City boss. Guardiola managed to convince the player into joining his team after following him for some good time.

Its City’s style of play however that made the youthful Spaniard to join the English side. “Every player wants to be involved in attacking teams and Manchester City is one of the most attacking in world football,” Torres said.

While commending the player, Director of football at Manchester City Txiki Begiristain hailed praises on the winger who now joins the citizens. Txiki also showed it open that the club had been following closely the youthful Spaniard. Pressed to  “We have followed Ferran’s progress closely and have been very impressed.

“He is young and still developing, but his technical qualities are exactly what we are looking for in a winger. He is quick, direct, can create space with one movement, and is capable of producing match-winning moments.”

2020/2021 Season for Manchester City

His signing now adds more value to the Citizens who have had to primarily on Bernado Silva as the only dependable right-winger. Besides being the only dependable right-winger at Manchester City, Silva helped greatly in scoring goals for his side as well as providing assists. The exit of Leroy Sane to Bayern Munchen again has forced the club to look for his replacement.

Manchester City is also in the run of signing a player that is going to replace David Silva. Silva leaves the Manchester-based team after having a ten-year stint at the club. In the ten year stint with the club, Silva managed to pull 400 appearances for the club.

Other key areas that the club looks to boost are the defence primarily, centre-back, and the left-back.
